I am Kiara Laher, or Mrs Laher if you please. I’m currently a trainee teacher in West Yorkshire. Originally from South London, I moved to Yorkshire in 2014 in search of the quiet life. The daughter of a completely dedicated but overworked head of English, I decided early on that I would do anything but teach. However, like many other children of teachers, I inevitably embraced my fate and delved into the world of teaching in September 2017. My journey into teaching, though, started a few years earlier. In 2014, when I was in my mid 20s and in search of the aforementioned quiet life, I did the utmost ridiculous thing and decided to start my teaching journey by undertaking a Ba in English Literature through the Open University (which I completed in three and a half years, whilst working full time!)
Initially, I thought I would start this blog last September, as my teaching journey commenced, but it goes without saying that teacher life got completely on top of me, and so it is only now that I have managed to carve out some time to document my route into becoming a secondary English teacher.
